Preview: The Smyths @ Rescue Rooms

The definitive Smiths tribute band – The Smyths – are back at Rescue Rooms this November on their ‘Strangeways Here We Come’ tour.

‘Imagining the tour that might have been in 1987,’ the band will showcase tracks from Strangeways – The Smiths’ fourth and final studio album – as well as the hits and the best of their back catalogue.

The sell-out show is sure to attract an enthusiastic crowd of avid fans of The Smiths (and of The Smyths themselves – for they insist that they are not just their tribute band). The gig follows on from their ‘The Queen is Dead’ tour last year, which celebrated the 30th anniversary of The Smiths’ 1986 release, and also hit Rescue Rooms.

Having formed back in 2003, the band have learnt how to effectively channel the sound and spirit of The Smiths in live performance, making them one of the most well-known tributes in the UK.

Popular tracks on the Strangeways album include ‘Girlfriend in a Coma’ and ‘Stop Me If You Think You’ve Heard This One Before,’ which will be guaranteed winners with the crowd. By throwing in some of the hits, I’m sure the band will electrify the venue, particularly with the gig falling on a Friday night.

The Smyths play Rescue Rooms on Friday 3 November 2017.
