After having some trouble with a support act, Silver Wilson played their first headline show at The Bodega Nottingham on Saturday night, with support from Remy and Badminton. They brought their feel-good indie-pop vibes to an excited and energetic crowd.
First up was last minute support Remy, winner of this years Notts factor. The recently turned eighteen-year-old played a mixture of his own songs and some covers which included Brittney Spears, Christina Aguilera and The Arctic Monkeys. His voice was similar to that of Jason Mraz and being so confident on stage already shows he has a lot of potential.
Next up were Badminton, a three-piece indie rock band from Leeds. They were dressed more for a summer holiday than an October evening, wearing bright coloured shorts, and their music had an almost Blink-182 sound to it. Their set included some songs from their EP that is due to be released next month including “I was, you were” which lead singer Robbie Tooth said was a ‘bop’ that would get everybody dancing. Overall, their music was very enjoyable and had the crowd warmed up.

The crowd was very excited when Silver Wilson walked on stage, and you could tell a lot of these people had seen them perform before. Lead singer Brandon Hill said it was nice to see “so many familiar faces”, and straight away everybody began dancing and singing along. It especially kicked off for “Fool” and their penultimate song “I’ll be there” which recently hit over 200,00 streams on Spotify. However, the song that got everybody energised, moving and singing along the most was their final song “Close enough”.
It was good to see a couple of fellow musicians in the crowd supporting Silver Wilson including Callum Burrows (Saint Raymond) having a good time. The four are heading to Leeds tonight to headline a close to selling out Oporto. Make sure to keep an eye out for further supporting shows or headline slots as their feel-good summery sound might be exactly what you need to bring back that summer feeling.
