Miley Cyrus has always been a figure of controversy; her scantily clad performance with Robin Thicke at the 2013 VMAs received a ridiculous amount of media coverage and as a result her hosting role in 2015 was sure to get some attention. The combined theatricality of the live shows of Cyrus and the Flaming Lips gave a show featuring a host of drag queens, a crotch based confetti cannon, and you guessed it – partial nudity.
Moreover, Cyrus announced the release of a collaborative album recorded with Wayne Coyne of the Flaming Lips, features from Ariel Pink, Mike Will Made-It and even Big Sean. The album is a free release and even harbours two tracks produced by Miley herself, although they are both piano ballads rather than featuring more extensive instrumental work. The album is 23 tracks long and entitled Miley Cyrus and Her Dead Petz.
